I wonder if they're real or just digital people...
July 26th, 2006, 09:24 AM
they are real, but the clip is edited and of course sped-up - turkish banks have lots of $ for good commercials, LOL

TD, from everything I've read about the video, it's not with real people, it's animated... just what i've read, and what it looks like too.
July 26th, 2006, 02:46 PM
as i said... real people, no computer technology :D
i no lie! LOL

ahh well, there ya go. I found some site that claimed to be the american distributor.. they said they used cgi, but I would have to agree with you then, I trust the Turkish distributor more. I stand corrected.
July 26th, 2006, 06:48 PM
How does that link prove it's real people? :o
July 26th, 2006, 06:50 PM
well, ifilm says itys the distributor and they describe it as real people. proof? no... not really... but meh, but i just realized that ifilm is american too... so it's no better than the distributor I found. oh well what ev.

The "Amazing clip, without computer technology" bit? Isn't that a comment somebody posted?
The "synopsis" doesn't say anything about CGI or not..

yeah, Prin, I have no idea.. I got up at 2 to go for a run before work, had to roll 8000 pennies after work, and haven't had my nap yet (bring out the violins people!!!) so I don't feel like looking anymore :p

well, unless this bank had a massive amount of time and money to throw at this commercial, it was NOT done in 3D (trust me). the crowd animations alone would take months & tons of money, digital artists, machines & specialised software. much cheaper & flexible to use real people, add white suits, choreography, clever editing & vari-speed. :)
edited to add:
ok got the confirmation these are real people, no CG: http://reddit.com/info/9v5w/comments
It is not CG. It created some kind of a hype in Turkey too and they still air it all the time on TV. It was shot by the same guy who did the dances on the Greece Olympics games, if I am right.
Anyways, the website is pretty low quality. You can download a better one from http://www.akbank.com/doc/reklam/yenilikciguc.mpg if you really need it.

The more I watch it, the more I think it might be real people, but really, just because "Duruq" says it's not CG, on some forum doesn't mean anything.
Ok it's bed time for me.

I showed the clip to hubby and a co-worker (we are all in the 3D animation industry) and they both said No Way was this animated digitally. big hollywood studios don't spend that many resources and money on feature films, why would a turkish bank do it for a little tv ad? in any case, i believe the turkish guy, and i also believe my eyes. Plus, working at a 3D software company, i can tell you from a professional point of view: it ain't CG ;)
(in a way, this is a huge compliment to the 3D industry, in that it has succeeded in creating such life-like characters & animations lately, that now folks question themselves "is it real, or is it digital?" We've come a long way since 1986! I love my job!)
