Beautiful! Green and lush! It's been too hot to work in my garden these last couple weeks 10days over 100 degrees, the last 3 days 111-113 degrees. All we can do is go out in the evenings and water to keep everything from dying.

glasslass I was wondering how you were doing with the heat wave. Do you still have power? I was watching the news and saw all the places in California that don't have power. Just stay safe and hydrated.

By the way, sorry for the threadjack. Chico, your gardens are beautiful as usual!

Glasslass,we saw on the news about the heatwave in California, the fires etc...I hope you can stay cool...
It's hot here too,VERY humid the last few days, but not as hot as where you are.About 90F yesterday.
I've always watered everything in the morning,to prevent mildew and desease, but we've also had enough rain to keep everything green and lush.
We are outside every day,I refuse to stay inside, here summer is just too short, but we spend a lot of time in the pool and I have to"dead-head"all the flowers:D

I water in the evenings as soon as the sun goes down. The heat stays around long enough to dry the foliage. I figure the plants have a chance to rehydrate before the sun comes out to bake them once again. Actually, even though this is a record-breaking heatwave, my garden is faring quite well. The pansies are done for, but they were on borrowed time as it was. We are staying cool with the air-conditioning 24/7. We have a whole-house fan but haven't been able to use it at all because the nights have been staying hot. The other night it was 93 degrees at 10 p.m. There have been 15 deaths attributed to the heat in my city - most elderly or with health problems. We have overhead fans all through the house so are quite comfortable. Corky did pee on a dining room chair leg about 3 feet from the doggie door. He didn't want to go out in the heat. Both dogs are normally really good. We just cleaned it up and didn't react. I can't blame the poor guy. Sorry for the :offtopic:
