Vacuuming the dog....

Has anyone tried vacuuming their dog during shedding season?

I know this sounds a little nuts  but there are a significant number of horse people who use a vacuum (hose + attachments) or even a dustbuster/dirt devil on their horses. Some of the horses even like it when the-beater bar is turned on with the hand units, sort of like a massage.

So has anyone tried this, or had any success?

I've tried it on my dogs and they don't like it and won't sit still. On the other hand one of my cats doesn't mind it at all. :D

I vacuum my 2 dogs Duke & Jasper. When I get the vacuum out Duke comes running and whining waiting to get vacuumed. Jasper doesn't mind as long as I don't take too long because he has more important things to do such as killing the stuffies. I vacuum the carpet, Duke & Jasper everyday and I find that my furniture doesn't have as much hair on them. I think having central vac helps because Jasper doesn't like loud noises but Duke doesn't care what vacuum I use.
