Does anyone know of a web site(and the link) to a Veterinary prescription medical dictionary/encyclopaedia. In the case of human medication there are many sites where we can read about prescribed medication. After hours of searching I can find nothing regarding veterinary medications.

I don't know too many websites (quite a few require a sign in that only vets have). There are a few books on the market.. Are you looking for a sort of "Merck Manual" or something like that? Or just a simple symptom/drug thing?

Here are a couple links that might help...
http://www.merckvetmanual.com/mvm/index.jsp
http://www.marvistavet.com/
http://cal.vet.upenn.edu/
http://www.vetmed.iastate.edu/faculty_staff/Users/noxon/# (for ears...)

Thanks for the reply. What I am really looking for is a site that is comparable to the many that are available for the Human Species prescription medication. For example if I wanted to look up Valium.I can find it in the search and it gives me all the info on it plus related options in the case of Valium it would be Diazepam. It would also give me the chemical name, its uses for, possible side effects and on it goes. I feel it is important to know as much about medication for animals as possible, We can ask the vet , yes, but you generally only get a very limited response. I.e.. try asking a vet about zinc supplements, you will be more confused than if he gave you a bone !!!!
There has to be something around somewhere that covers this.

Sorry, I haven't found one. You could always ask the pharmacist instead of the vet... I asked a pharmacist about gravol for dogs and he was able to print me out the dosages for dogs.:)
