What is your climate comfort zone?

July 13th, 2006, 05:26 PM
ok montreal is being blanketed by a hot, humid heat wave, due to last for a while... i just hate it. sweat has nowhere to go, it's so humid that crackers go stale in less than an hour, my bones feel like lead and headaches won't go away  hubby loves it (figures... he's from Australia!) and shakes his head when i say my best temps are from 0 to 25C, max! i asked the doggies and they said "mom, below zero please!" :D

what is your comfort zone? am i weird for LIKING it cool n'fresh as opposed to warm and balmy?

I like somewhere in about 25 degrees. Any more than that and I get too hot. Any less than that and I have ice cubes for feet/hands.

I can't stand the humidity though either. If it gets too humid I start feeling lightheaded and feel like I'm going to pass out. Not cool. Almost passed out at the vet's office the last time I went because of it! Same thing happens in the shower/bath too, especially if I have it as warm as I like it. I first thought it had to do with an iron deficiency but it didn't go away when I was on the super duper Iron pills for three months! I shall have to talk to the doc about it later this month when I go.

I so don't miss my 4 1/2 app.in Montreal right now!I am very lucky,I have a/c in my office at work, then on my way back home,I never put the a/c in the car, just roll down the car windows,I have 40 kms of highway,no trafic. At home I got my pool. And around 8-9 pm,it's quite comfy here in Sherrington. If not,I can still go back in the pool.Naked if I want to,nobody can see me,woooohoooo :D

I'm a Fall and Winter girl here, I cannot stand humidity, we don't have AC and I feel gross and B***** all the time in the summer. Hot and crabby children and a short tempered mommy = not a summer household here, except of course the hubby says bring it on:D

15 degrees - crisp and sunny. I am way to pale and redheaded for this nonsense. And I had a riding lesson today in this nastiness!! I thought I was going to pass out and tumble off my horse!! My favourite season is Fall. Chris is half Guyanese so he gets nice and brown, handles the heat way better than I. I have to take doggies out and do gardening after the sun lets up or I am toast - literally.

I'm not usually comfortable until everyone else is complaining of the heat. I was at a dinner the other night and the air conditioning was on, but not blasting. I wasn't cold but I wasn't at all hot. There were paper fans on the table as decorations and I noticed a number of the women fanning themselves with them. But I felt as though it was just a few degrees away from being too cold. So I know that my thermostat is not in sync with most of the population.

If I could get away with it I wouldn't have air conditioning at all. And I'm uncomfortable almost every minute in the winter.

Somewhere around 18-20C is good for me. I could happily live in spring/fall temps all year round. Cool enough at night for a long-sleeved shirt, warm enough in the afternoon for capris or jeans with a t-shirt, with a nice breeze-that would be heavenly. No need for heat or a/c.

We used to tease my sister about her 1/2 degree comfort zone-between 73 and 73.5F. Everything else is either freezing or too hot for her!

I like the 25 degrees without the humidity,

It is strange though how much the climate in southern Ontario has changed in say the last 30 years, back pre 30 years ago we had some really hot summers but no where near the humidity we have now, most of the summer days there was blue skys now it is mostly a hazy gray.

I can't stand the humidity though either. If it gets too humid I start feeling lightheaded and feel like I'm going to pass out. Not cool. Have your doctor check your thyroid levels, it could also because you are not drinking enough water.

Almost passed out at the vet's office the last time I went because of it! At least you would have been in good hands if you had... :D

I agree with OG though (good catch OG!). Last summer I was super hyperthyroid and I was dizzy out of nowhere and lightheaded and HOT. Ask your doc for blood tests.:)

I LOVE the summer,but a comfortable 25C would be perfect,but nothing is perfect,right:confused:
I do not like closing all my windows for the central air,but I am certainly happy we have it,as well as a/c in the car,my pool.
I am outdoors most of the day, spend a lot of time in the pool.
We keep the a/c inside on 25C and it's perfect, but as soon as it's less humid, the air is off and my windows are open.

I like the fall, when it's cool and crisp out.

In the cold of winter, I worry about the poor dogs being outside of long periods of time or tied to a doghouse.

In the summer, I worry about the dog and cats outside for long periods of time, animals trapped inside a car with no windows open and no ac. The poor horses in old MTL pulling the tourists around in this heat and humidty. I worry about the poor dogs running behinds someones bike, their tongue pratically touching the sidewalk and the person doesn't seem to care!

The spring, I think of all the new born kittens that are going to be born anyday and the floods of calls.....

I like the fall weather the best, the leaves are changing colors, it's cool out no to hot or cold. I seem to worry less in the autumn.

chico2
July 14th, 2006, 04:28 PM
Poodletalk, when you put it that way:sad:
I worry more about the animals in the winter, not finding a warm place, dogs freezing outside 24/7,cats freezing to death.
At least in the summer they can find a shady cooler spot, people are outside, more likely to care about a lost little stray.
But then again,I am not faced with what you are facing all the time and I am certainly greatful for that.

Where I am in Ontario it's 30C,which is about 85F(I think),add the humidity to that and it's HOT.

Yeah this sticky, hot, humid weather is fairly disgusting. I have an outdoor job, so i can't escape it. By the end of the day I am one shiny, sweaty girl. Then I get to go home to a tiny hot apartment with zero aril circulation, we've got AC, but iIfeel too guilty to use it (conservation nut). I might just have to give in today though. I definitely prefer the cooler weather of the late spring and early fall. Those times of year smell better too.

Ha ha Prin, good luck tomorrow.

Prin I will bet your dress is polyester to just to add to the sweat factor. I love the summer and even though I am not a fan of the humidity I would rather sweat than freeze. I do love a nice crisp fall day the kind where a big bulky sweater is just enough. I'm with you Joeysmom I can't stand if it is too cold from AC I am not a big fan of it. Buddy on the other hand hates this weather he would rather be running with Technodolls boy in the snow. I literally have to coax him for a walk some days like yesterday.

I don't mind heat.. it's the humidity that kills me. Growing up in dry, dry, Alberta, did not prepare me for Quebec summers. Yesterday was deffinately out of my comfort zone.
I was running this morning at 2 am, and it was pleasent, but still hot, except next to the water, where it is pleasent and just warm, due to the breeze. At that hour I lost only 5 lbs of sweat running, rather than the usual 10.:yuck:

I like it around 32C - I hate the cold and I dont ski. I am in Vancouver now and finding it chilli its probably maybe 22 here. Hotter is ok as long as I can jump in the pool cool off then go lay in the sun and get all warm again. :)

Also I have been hating going grocery shopping lately - I freeze to death in the grocery store and end up with goose bumps everywhere then you go back outside and its superhot. Also when I was driving down it was too cold with the air conditioning and to hot with it off.

And no matter how hot is I love to take a superhot (dry out your skin hot) hot tub or a bath...I am just wierd guess I am more of a heat person. :D

The wedding party looks great! The dresses are very practical, if you wanted to you can wear the dress again to another wedding.

What I like about these pictures is, everyone looks very natural. It doesn't look like, everyone is wearing alot of make-up, the braids maids look relax and not tierd.
