Some more pics from around here in the last week . . . . .
Keeper in her favourite spot towards sunset, a Canola field yellowing in the background, barking at any villians she thinks might be out there sneaking up on her . . . . . a nightly ritual. I guess you can see why her family in town gave her up!!! In the country, we don't mind so much.

Keeper and Abby found Elbow Lake, with Elbow Pass heading out beyond the lake in the background, to be a cool respite on this hot day in K-Country. We walked down the pass for a few miles . . . . it leads through the mountains and out to the prairie beyond . . . in fact, our home would be pretty much straight east and we've walked the connector of this trail many times from the other side. This lake is warm enough to swim in. A walk-in, back-country campsite is at this spot as well.

On another day - another hot one too - we were in the Whaleback area of southwestern Alberta, in K-Country, hiking up this unnamed trail to do some more ridge-walking . . . . . but the stream I was using to keep Keeper cool ran out. Bottled water isn't enough for Keeper. We'll have to come back in the fall when its cooler. Abby lounges on a slope on the way up.

Keeper sags into a stream as described above . . . . her hips bother her a bit on hot days. Abby has a lot of endurance regardless of circumstances but Keeper needs a good soaking to keep going. Keeper walked 17 km (10 miles) around Upper Kananaskis Lake the previous weekend.

I'll throw this in because it was peculiar . . . . . a dragonfly in the early morning. I came back an hour later and he was gone.
