Today's walk by the river

The dogs didn't get to go into the water, since their feet aren't totally healed up yet, but we did go for a walk this morning by the old canal here and I remembered my camera today. (This is my first try at photobucket, so cut me some slack if it doesn't work, OK?:D )

So this is the canal side-a bike trail runs between the closed off canal and the St Lawrence river. We're out on a crumbling old pier that was part of a make-work program during the '30s. There's a massive beaver lodge just below us, but the light was all wrong to get a pic.

Here's the area where we took them for their first swim-you go down a steep trail to get there. There's a blue heron fishing off the rocks, just to the right of the entrance to the pond.

Down the canal to the Seaway Bridge-and there's that heron again! ( I was never fast enough to get him in flight. I should try and get video of him telling me off when I get too close!)

This is now part of our mornings, so I'm hoping to get better with my camera as the summer goes on.

:o Thanks! I wasn't sure how they would look, with it being so grey, but I really liked the way that last one turned out, too.
