If you use the search feature you will find a number of useful threads on safe bug juice for animals. Poor little guy. :(

omg that's so bad!! Do you think she's allergic to them?

Here are a couple of threads about bug sprays and afterbite things:

I can attest to the effectiveness of copperbelle's rosemary and lemon homemade remedy (from the first thread). Our backyard is full of mosquitos, and by spraying down the dogs and myself with this, we were out in the yard for over an hour-no bites. I re-spray every half hour, but you can watch the bugs circle you without landing.
Plus the stuff smells great, feels nice on a hot day (since you keep it in the fridge) and made the doggie's coats extra shiny. :)

Here's a copy of copperbelle's post:

Take a large lemon and slice it paper thin. Put the slices into a bowl with a tablespoon of crushed rosemary leaves. Pour over the top of this a quart of hot, nearly boiling water. Let this steep overnight, then strain and put into a large spritzer bottle. Use a new spray bottle and not one that contained a cleaning chemical.
Shake well before applying and keep in the refrigerator when not in use.

I used this lemon and rosemary mixture and added a little skin so soft oil from Avon to it and Tucker had no bites at our cottage this weekend. I kept spraying every hour or so as he was forever in the pond.:D
