Golden - Can Teething Cause Bad Breath?

June 22nd, 2006, 11:14 AM
I have a 5 month old golden, Sampson :pawprint: , who recently started having majorly bad breath. He does dig and get into the dirt, grass and green stuff out back, but nothing I think would cause this nasty breath. He gets into what I like to call "yard raisins" (bunny poo) every now and then... but nothing consistent. I did change his food to Solid Gold WolfCub, but he's been on it or a mix of it for close to 3 weeks. The halitosis has only been around for a few days, but boy does it have staying power! :yuck: I can't imagine that it's any kind of mouth, gum or teeth issue at such a young age. Could it be teething? I've read mixed things about this. Does anyone else have experience with foul breath due to teething? Sampson is teething pretty heavily right now. He sometimes bleeds from it. His gums look fine, minus a little redness from the teeth actually coming through. I know he's a dog and dog breath isn't exactly rosey, but this is so sudden at his age. I'm hoping it's temporary.

Any experiences or information you can share would be great. As always, thanks.
