Does anyone have any info on this breed of cat? A friend of mine loves this breed.
I have been doing some internet reearch but was hoping perhaps some members on this board have some stories/info to share.
Not looking to get a cat but just generally interested.

I don't know many facts, other than they are my absolute favourite cats..they are larger than your average domestic cat,I know of one that weighed in at 25lb's without an ounze of fat.
They are generally laid back, gentle creatures and beautiful:love:
I had one a long time ago,who unfortunately only lived to see his 3rd birthday:sad:

My absolute favorite in cats too ! Such a gentle giant, gorgeous coat, large eyes, laid-back, affectionate and a pure joy to have around. I was lucky to share a few years of my life with a stunning silver tabby who eventually left with an ex... here's Mackenzie (9 months on the pics):

My friend has an orange one (probably a mix, but he's got the maine coon fur and size). He's enormous and sheds like madness. They love him to death. :)

I worked in a Maine Coon cattery...they are amazing cats - the unique trill they make is the cutest sound ever!
They are way beyond friendly and are the cuddliest lap cats despite their size. Overall they are very calm and confident - not to mention regal cats!
I have met only 3 with shy or "bad" temperments but they were mistreated/abused which explains it.

I had a maine coon cat for 17 years - PigPig - I have recently adopted a rescue part maine coon - Precious. Both male. They are also my favourite breed of cat. Very large - gentle giants. Great dispositions, easy going laid back. They have very long tails and big feet. I don't know if it's part of the breed but they like to head butt with anyone. They act more like a dog than a cat. They also seem to have differen vocalizations than other cats. PigPig was 22 lbs. Precious is probably about 16lbs.
