Hi all we are new to this forum and wanted to say hello. We will be getting our first shipoo puppy the end of July. Right now she is 3 weeks old and so adorable and her name is Isa. Our kids are very excited and we cant wait to get her. What does everyone think about shipoo puppies? Thank you

I sort of figured it was the two mixed together. we are getting a shih tzu puppy. she is almost 4 weeks old now. cant wait to bring her home. she was born may 21. we are all excited and ready for her to come.

There are a few interesting threads pertaining to 'designer breeds' you should check out.

...so, remind me again? why would anyone pay hundreds, even thousands for a mutt when the shelters are bursting at the seams? sigh.

but welcome to the forum, we're all pretty nice even if we have our opinions on certain subjects.

I am not paying hundreds of dollars for mine. I went to the spca to get one from there but didnt like the way I was treated there and then told that shih zu are not meant to be with children. so I left to look else where.

have you spoken with breeders and owners to see if this is true? some breeds are not the best match with kids... and bravo for looking to rescue a dog in need, instead of shoving $ at back-yard profiteers! :thumbs up

I have spoken with many and they said shih zu and kids are great together and I know many who have shihzu and kids and they are great together, my daughter is 8 and she is not rough with animals.

silver_loba, your pup is a purebreed, which many people rightfully pay hundreds to thousands of dollars for. Isa's dog however is a mutt, which no one should ever pay more than an adoption fee for. That being said, where did you find a breeder that will sell you a purebred shih-tsu for less than "hundreds of dollars"? I hope you looked into the breeder?

For those of us who have been around for a while, please keep in mind your own knowledge of pets and the issues surrounding them when you first joined. Many of us did not come by the knowledge we have until we spent some time here becoming educated about the issues. If we attack those who come here for friendship and to join the Pets community, not only does it reflect badly on ourselves, it serves no purpose towards the education of others, or the welfare of the animals.
