SPRINGFIELD KENNELS
Dog Kennel Manager/Operator

Job Type: Casual
Location: Calgary And Area, AB, CANADA;
Job Category: Management, Other, Veterinarian Services
Industry: Veterinary/Animal Sciences
Year(s) of Experience: 2
Number Of Positions: 1
Date Posted: May 15, 2006

a Dog Kennel Manager is wanted to run a well established kennel with a
very loyal clientelle. This is a boutique kennel (only 25 dog runs)
with a focus upon a quiet and happy environment for the dogs.

The kennel is located on 14 acres of grassed and treed land just
outside of Cochrane, Alberta (15 minutes drive from Calgary) in a
peaceful country setting.

There is a colocated 4 bedroom executive log house with huge decks and
views of the river valley and mountains that is available as well for
the kennel manager to live in as either shared accomodation, or the
whole house can be rented if the Manager has a family. The rental is
not included in the salary.

There is also room and facilities for the Manager to have a horse and pets if desired.

The Manager will be responsible for the operation of the kennel without
any supervision. This will include cleaning and feeding the dogs, dealing with
dog owners and taking bookings, keeping financial records and book
keeping, etc. The manager will in fact be running the entire business
for its retired overseas owners. As such it is a 7 day a week job - but
this involves only a few hours work a day during most months. However
the busy season (July, Aug, Xmas) can be demanding with 10 hour days.

This position requires someone who has a good knowledge and interest and
love for dogs, and a friendly and personable manner with people.
Experience running and managing a business is also helpful but not essential as the operation is not a complex one.

However strong preference will be given to applicants who have worked in a boarding kennel before.

This would be a great position for someone with an entreprenurial flair
to grow and run their own business, by adding grooming and training
services to the operation.

The base salary is $2,000 per month with the opportunity to share in the business profits. So the expected annual package should be at least $30,000.

The position is available starting June 20th 2006.

Please provide personal and past employer references in your application.
