Slight hair loss at base of tail

I have a small cat approximately 5 years old that has just started losing some hair at the base of his tail. He's fixed and is on Interferon for an eye disorder. He is also strictly indoors. There are also 2 other cats with no problems to speak of. Could this be mange or some other abnormal skin condition treateable without a prescription?

I believe that hair loss at the base of the tail is also a symptom of diabetes.

You might want to take your cat to the vet.
