No two people agree...

We can't get two people to agree on what Beau may be, besides handsome of course :D

The rescue ad called him a Foxhound. His foster parents said he was a Treeing Walker Coonhound. My husband thinks he is more of a Pointer.

I would really appreciate anyone's opinions :pawprint:

Hard to tell, but his legs don't look long enough for a Treeing Walker Coonhound.

Maybe some sort of coonhound/beagle mix..?.

Very cute!!!:)

Here's a coonhound.

Both could be right according to the link at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treeing_Walker_Coonhound

The Treeing Walker Coonhound is a breed of dog descended from the English Foxhound. The breed began when a stolen dog of unknown origin, known as "Tennessee Lead", was crossed into the Walker Hound in the 1800s. Thomas Walker had imported the English Foxhound to Virginia in 1742.

My husband thought maybe he was a Pointing Hound?

Hmmm...I don't see Pointer. Pointers have a vey distinctive muzzle shape. It's hard to see in the pic you posted, though. I'm leaning more towards a FoxhoundX or BeagleX.

He sure is handsome, though! :)

He's too short to be a pointer too.. They're bigger (60lbs and up for males...). I see a lot of beagle or foxhound in him...

Thank you for the ideas :thumbs up

It is hard to tell from pictures too as they can be misleading. Beau when standing reaches my hip (I am 5'4") but I would have to measure him to be sure of his height. He is 63lbs, but we have been told he is full grown.

There has to be Hound ... but the rest I can only guess at. He was a good choice as a rescue because he is sweet tempered, and very well behaved for a 1 yr old.

Here is a pic of his face if that helps :) Thanks again for the ideas

Maybe no one agrees with me, but I see some Beagle in him...he is very cute! No real matter, but like me I like to guess what my mixes are.

There are a fair number of hound breeds that come is the tri-colour she could be a blend of a couple as hunters that would breed are working on getting a dog for function rather than the showring.
Your picture of her is great but to help identify the breed need to show all of her standing at different angle and need to see her tail

here is assorted pictures you can compare her to, one breed that looks very similiar in head shape is the harrier

Hi there, here is my two cents: Having a Walker x (65lbs) I can see alot of similar looks. Hoover had alot of that same tick colouring when he was a young man, hair is kinda wirey, same tri colour and that wonderful dark black spot in the middle of his back will gray, the white on his face will creap up under his eyes, when his wet you'll see ALOT of spots you don't see when he's dry:eek: , also having had a English Coonhound for 9yrs I do not think he looks like that , working with English Foxhounds in the past, I don't really see any of that either, if I had to make a guess I would say Walker x /A. Foxhound x / Harrier x. Any way you look at him he sure is a cutie:pawprint: It takes a special person to  a Hound but ya Gotta love a hound :thumbs up

My guess is, Beagle / Lab X. His face looks like a lab to me.

I don't see any pointer in him but I do see hounds in him. I would say Tree walker and maybe a working bassett hound. Not the Bassett you are thinking of the low riders the working Bassett is longer legged and not as thick more like beagles. They have a few up at the Caledon Hunt Club in there hunting hounds. I will see if I can find a pic of them.
