Pitbull??? HRMM?

OK!!! This really bothered me today!! I know this should prolly be in the BSL threads now but im not sure so here goes!
Seeing as though there was a fair this weekend, I figured that this would be a perfect opportunity to bring the dogs out to see lots of people with lots of distactions and smells, you know, to keep them "social" ( remember we live in the country so this is not an everday occurance to the dogs)
Well a few people were muttering about Nikita, you know " that pitbull is supposed to have a muzzle" and " Oh a PitBull, why would anyone bring one of those dogs out in public like that?" and so on!

There were cops there and thankfully the particular OPP officer had to know his dogs, because I heard someone complaining about the "VICIOUS PITBULL over there" (my direction) we were watching the barrel racing and kita was laying beside me minding her own affairs. The OPP Officer and the complainer were maybe 10 feet away! I heard the officer say " Maam that dog there is definately more of a Boxer than anything" Thank GOD he was knowledgeble with dogs or i may have been in for some trubbles!
I just looked back at the 'lady' and smirked!

It sure sucks doesn't it?? Luckily for you, your pooch isn't a Pittie, but that doesn't mean you won't be harrassed. This is exactly why ALL dog owners should be standing up against BSL. Whether or not your dog looks like a Pit Bull, it affects you or will at some point.

i have always been against BSL, I hate seeing wonderful Pitties trying to get the muzzles off their faces when walking down the street, chokes me up!
ITs stupid thats all that can be said. I feel for all the Pittie parents out there, trying to deal with such a rediculous thing!

Funny thing - people try to tell me my Pittie is a boxer mix! But I know he isn't!! I saw his mother, and by the sounds of things, his father was much larger than a boxer! I think people think he's a boxer because of his colouring??:confused: So it's debateable as to what he is, but I call him a Pit Bull (not a breed, just a bully breed mix!) and I'm proud of him!

Seriously though, I'm so sorry you all have to go through this harassment and prejudice. It never ceases to amaze me that people continue to live in ignorance and fear rather than doing their homework and coming to understanding.

People have been taught to fear Pitbulls, which isnt fair. I have only had the pleasur to meet a hand full of pits, and all of them were well ajusted family members!, excellent cuddle pups!
However , now anything brindle and that has 4 legs and teeth is a Pitbull, and people are convinced that ALL of them are bad dogs, going to kill them kinda mentality! IT discourages me SO much

Last time someone said something to me about not having Daisy out, I just said, "She's a helluva lot friendlier than you!"

I don't know why, but I haven't had a lot of really mean comments. I've been waiting for the "They should all be put down" so I can tell them "I feel the same way about ignorant jerks, but looks like we're both going to be disappointed".

Maybe it's fortunate I haven't had a lot of comments...
