My dog was recently diagnosed with an oral malignant melanoma. While she is not showing any signs of pain now, I'm told it will progress very quickly, and metastise throughout her body. My question is, Does anyone have any advice on medicines that were successful for them treating pain in similar situations? Of course I will discuss it with her veterinarian, but I would appreciate any advice. I want her to continue to have a good quality of life for as long as she can. Thanks!

Our Fred had osteoscarcoma (bone cancer) and in the end, it was morphine that gave him the most relief.

My sympathies are certainly with you.

for my boy with osteosarcoma, we used an anti inflammatory (liquid - cannot remember the name, for some reason) and tylenol #3 q 4 h. he was quite comfortable. this may not be appropriate for your dog but ask your vet.
i'm so sorry.

Thanks for the advice. I really don't want her to be painful, and I don't want to drug her too heavily either, so I will have to find a balance.
