Question about neutered male cat...

We have a two year old male cat who we had neutered as a kitten. We also have an 8 month old female who we will be spaying in a couple of weeks. My question is that our female is in heat and last night we found our male neutered cat trying to breed her. Is this normal? I always thought that once they're neutered that they don't have sex anymore. Any info on this would be great.

Yes, this is perfectly normal. Once your female is spayed, she probably won't allow your male to mount her anymore, but he may continue to try!

For future reference, it's best to have females spayed BEFORE their first heat.
