My mother has a 4 year old collie that she said cannot move her back legs. She said that Lassie had started eating a lot less about 10 days ago and just yesterday she saw her and she could not control her back legs. They looked like they were paralyzed. I went to see her and she looked like she could not control them. They looked like they were just dragging. The weird thing is that she looks healthy overall, her coat, her face but just her legs have that problem.

The dog may look fine, but she is paralyzed! She may have a ruptered disk in her back and she needs to go to the vet NOW.

Please tell your mother to get treatment for the poor dog! Why hasn't she taken her to the vet??!
A ruptured disk and/or a pinched nerve can cause this. It is very painful for the dog. To let it go is really cruel. I had this happen to a Rottie once, it was a pinched nerve and the vet gave him a steroid shot right in the lower back. He was instantly better and the problem never came back.
PLEASE have this dog seen by a vet.
