Olde English Bulldog questions!

I'm considering getting a bulldog, and I'm leaning toward the Olde English Bulldogge type, since it seems they don't have quite as many health problems as the English Bulldog. But since I've never 'met' the breed (I've only read about it) can anybody give me the good and bad qualities of the breed?

Thanks!!

I'm not positive but I do beleive that the two are pretty much one and the same but have seperate and distinct 'lines'. If you can find a good breeder (which is hard, I've been looking) who has been breeding them for many, many years and has had many generations then that's your best bet at getting a healthy pup.

I'm also not positive, but many breeders say that the two are completely different. The olde dogge is supposedly closer to what bulldogs were back in the bullbaiting days: bigger and healthier and more active. But then again, maybe people are just trying to sell some dogs....

I'm confused.

I'm thinking that it depends on where you are and what you are looking for, some breeds are recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club but not by other clubs. It's good to get info from breeders, but you can also check out the CKC website, or the AKC, the more you know about the breed the better, especially when picking out your pup because bulldogs do tend to be expensive, extensive research is in order when making this decision. I wouldn't get anything less than a show dog, I too have looked around for bullies and wouldn't buy one form someone who doesn't show, because where I am, breeders who aren't showing their dogs often try to charge the same they would for a show dog. Heck, since it's such an expensive investment, I would even go to some dog shows, luckily it's almost summer so there should be a lot happening.

Bullies are awesome dogs, my friend has one and she's the sweetest little dog, she's good with kids, and other dogs, and mostly she likes to hang around the house. She does however snore, and her wrinkles can be tough to clean. Sweet dogs, the ones that I met anyway.

A good place to get experienced opinions and answers about this breed is at the following site. Many owners and some breeders there:
