Cat in Heat?

My cat, who is probably 5-7 months now is in heat. Throughout the winter months, my dad doesn't work because of weather. We will not be able to take her to the vet until after he gets back to work (my mom said we might be able to take her in the end of January).

Is is bad to wait this long to take her to get fixed?

We have a male cat as well and he's fixed. She won't leave him alone. She sits with her butt up in the air and is making noises all the time. My male cat is actually taking to this well - he's licking her and sitting by her all the time. I think he actually mounted her once - I don't know why since he's fixed, but it was pretty funny.

Anyway... is it bad to wait awhile before getting her fixed?

The end of January will be fine. Just be EXTRA careful to make sure she doesn't get out of the house between now and then. If she does, the result will be a litter of kittens!

Cats in heat can be very determined when they want to get out.
