My kitty is VERY stinky in the litter box. We have not changed his diet lately but he really stinks up the whole house when he visits the litter box. He eats a mix of dry (Eagle Pack) and wet (Merrick or Eagle Pack). Anyone have any ideas how I can curb the stinkage?

without doing a diet change, you can put about an inch of baking soda in the bottom of the litter box, then top with your usual kitty litter. This will help absorb alot of the super stinky smell. You can still scoop as usual, just put a fresh layer of baking soda down when you change the litter completely.

Hi there, how old is Milo? We have a 7mos old boy who also was VERY Stinky, you could always tell when he came out, I'm sure he came out with a smile on his face, boys will be boys I thought, but over time and age along with neuter(maybe) it just went away, maybe its your wet food? :sorry: not much help, but hope it goes away for you also,:fingerscr stinky kitties are the worst, the nickname,'stinky' has stayed with our boy Max LOL

How long has he been eating those foods? I ask because I know with dogs when you switch to holistic from commercial foods, they go through a very stinky phase (they call it "detoxifying"), but it goes away after a while.

How long has he been stinky? If it's a new thing, you might want to see a vet to be sure nothing is up.

I have one of those too, oh boy. AND he doesn't bury it. There are stool 'sweeteners' on the market but I have no idea if they work.

My Vinnie was sooo stinky as a kitten,I brought a poop sample to the vet in a small container and it stunk up the whole vet-office:eek:
As he grew up,his poop is now no smellier than the others:thumbs up

Hi, thanks for all the ideas. He is almost 2 (we think) based on what age they gave us when we adopted him. He has been REALLY stinky for about 2 months. We already had problems with him previously, he would go at least 3 times a day. We took a sample to the vet and nothing came back. It is almost time for his check up so I will check with them then!

Kittykate, maybe it is the food, but you are feeding him about the best there is.
Hopefully the vet can tell you why he stinks.
No poop smells nice, but some certainly is worse than others.
