Dog Carriers ??

Now that the weather is nice I'm thinking about all the outdoor activities in which I can include Cooper. He's 7 months old, nearly 8, and he weighs 12 pounds. I was just thinking that, being a shih tzu, his legs are short so a long day walking in a park might be too much for him.

I thought there might be something I could use so that I could still have him with me--likee a baby snuggly, but for dogs. Are there any that are appropriate and comfortable, and easy to use? I'm thinking, particularly, of a benefit we'll be going to in May which will be held at the fairgrounds. I'd like to bring him, but don't want him constantly in the path of big feet all day. But he enjoys the outdoors and I'd rather bring him with me, if there is a way I can carry him that's comfortable enough for the both of us to enjoy a good amount of outdoor time.

Shihtzu's are just fine to use their legs to walk and exercise. They can go for a three hour walk without any problem. Please don't make the mistake of coddling your little one.. it will create a monster.

BMD--no worries. He's a little dynamo, I won't restrict his exercise. I'm just thinking that if there is a crowd at the fairgrounds it might be better to get him up off the ground for a bit. Or if I want to go for a powerwalk he might enjoy going along for the ride. This is not in any way meant to replace his own walk time or play time. I was also thinking about malls and such. I'd rather bring him along with me than have him be at home alone, and I thought a doggie in a carrier is less likely to get booted out.

And you're so right about shih tzus and a three hour walk. Cooper has amazing energy.
