Neutering an adult dog

Hi.... I got dog about a month ago. A male german shepherd. I've had him checked out and stuff, and he seems to be happy with my family. His owner actually doesn't want him. LONG COMPLICATED STORY.

Here's the point, he's about 5 years old and I'm wondering about possible complications and cost of getting him neutered. (Don't worry, I think I've found him a good vet:) )

Our first dog was found abandoned when he was about 2 and a half. He was neutered then with no complications. I think the benefits outweigh the risks.

With our rescue, we have dogs of all ages spayed and neutered all the time. Don't worry, 5yrs is definitely not too old. You can have a full blood panel/screening done beforehand to make sure everything is normal. Speak to your vet, get your pooch a full health exam and they will let you know of there are any other concerns you should have. Good luck!

I agree. We had our old dobie done at 3 and it ended up stopping most of his marking. :thumbs up
