HELP!!! My 12 year old male domestic short hair has been constantly chewing at himself AND eating all of the wet cat food once it is put out, not saving any for the others. He always seems hungry, yet he is losing weight instead of gaining.

Maybe he needs wormed. I would suggest that you worm your other cats too as they could pick up the infection easily from the other cat (assuming he does have worms). The chewing could indicate discomfort/itching, maybe he has fleas (you should be able to find out by searching through his fur, fleas like to locate around the neck, ears and base of the tail in particular. Fleas are transmitters of various parasites, including tapeworms.

Also check his stool for worms. And this may sound gross, but check his butt.Alot of the times you can see them. And yes, check him for flees.Cats and dogs also can be allergic to flee bites.Get him checked by a vet.

A 12 yr old cat who is eating a lot and losing weight needs to go to the vet. He could have a thyroid problem or diabetes - both very common in older cats.
