Superman songs

I need everyone's help!!

I am making a compilation of all the Superman songs ever made (that I can find).

I have a bunch, but I want to make sure I'm not missing any, especially if someone knows of some lesser known band that has a superman song.

So...lets brainstorm! What superman songs do you all know of.

If you don't know the name/artist, just post what you know (male/female/genre/era/etc)

REM _ I am I am I am superman and I can do anything

Crashtest dummies - Superman never made any money saving the world from Solomen Grundy

Five for fighting - superman song

I canít stand to fly
Iím not that naive
Iím just out to find
The better part of me

Iím more than a bird...iím more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train
Itís not easy to be me

Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home Iíll never see

It may sound absurd...but donít be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed...but wonít you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream
Itís not easy to be me

Up, up and away...away from me
Itís all right...you can all sleep sound tonight
Iím not crazy...or anything...

I canít stand to fly
Iím not that naive
Men werenít meant to ride
With clouds between their knees

Iím only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me
Inside of me
Inside me
Yeah, inside me
Inside of me

Iím only a man
In a funny red sheet
Iím only a man
Looking for a dream

Iím only a man
In a funny red sheet
And itís not easy, hmmm, hmmm, hmmm...

Its not easy to be me

3 Doors Down: "kryptonite"
Weezer: "Undone- the sweater song", but it's barely audible at the end:
I don't want to destroy your tank-top
Let's be friends and just walk away
Hate you see you lyin' there in your Superman skivvies
Lying on the floor, I've come undone
Here's a website with "all" (or so they say) the songs with superman in them.. There's a lot (and a lot of popups...)

The Spin Doctor's did a song in the 90's.
I think it was called "Jimmy Olsen Blues" (AKA pocket full of Kryptonite)

It's the awesomist ever. Zach Braff is amazing. If you like the show, see "Garden State"- he wrote, directed and starred in it. It's not a comedy though.

End highjack.:o

Now I got all these superman songs stuck in my head...

The kids rented Garden State over the summer and I didn't watch it. And I live in "the garden state !!!!! I grew up here. I've heard that it's all recognizable too. I'll have to rent it again.

(Sorry to resuscitate the highjack.)

What was the them from the original Superman movie. OOh I should know this. That was our first date--The hubby and me !!

It's good- it's about a guy (zach) who has been on anti-depressants since he was little (prescribed by his dad, the shrink) and over the course of a weekend, he goes off his meds for the first time and starts feeling and living... I loved it.

Sorry to re-resuscitate the hijack... :o

BTW, you're really dating yourself with the original superman song... :D

Oh no !! Lavender Rott you win. My husband had silk shirts though, and heels on his shoes. :yuck: I had a short perm and wore baby's breath in my hair when I went dancing.

Nice visual right?

I had an orange and black Mohawk and did the flock of seagulls doo for a while too. I would wear all black and spend my day giving people evil looks. My clothes were all ripped then put back together with safety pins. No piercings though back then and no tattoos.

I would also put baby powder all over my face to make myself look really pale, and wear lots of black liquid eye liner.

Actually my parents were horrified back then - one time she found the baby powder at my dresser - and well she didnt think it was baby powder.:o  :D It took my a while to explain what it actually was. She almost took it to a lab to get tested.!

Wow--you were goth !! I suspect that makes you quite a bit younger than me. Am I the grammy of these boards ?? LOL !

I wore a lot of shirts with little ties and vests. Very school marmish 70's. My husband once told me I looked like a school teacher--which I was !! But the next week, as a joke, I decked myself out in black lycra pants, open toed heels, a black tube top. Think Olivia Newton John in Grease. The same outfit. Then I showed up where he was playing and sat at the bar by myself, which I never ever did. I always brought friends and got a table. He and his freinds were laughing and laughing and when the set was over they came down and intorduced me to the other people at the bar---Tom's co-workers !

He had invited them to come hear him play and meet the nice little teacher he was dating !!:D

(Okay, now I'm heading over to the other thread to report myself for repeated high jacking. )

While searching for Superman songs you will find that the above which Joey.E.CockersMommy posted is often credited to David Gray, with the song title 'It's not easy being me'. However, it is, as noted, the Superman Song by Five for Fighting from the America Town album

I can so picture that:
"Man, look at her! She's scary!"
"No way, she smells like a baby! Booobooojooobooo! Who's my widdle cutie!?"

hee hee

Joeysmama, I'm heading over to report you for wearing things that leave little to the imagination...:D

Raingirl, did you get enough songs yet?

Lucky Rescue

Oooh, the best one is by the Canadian group "Crash Test Dummies" I love it!

Superman's Song

Tarzan wasn't a ladies' man
He'd just come along and scoop 'em up under his arm
Like that, quick as a cat in the jungle
But Clark Kent, now there was a real gent
He would not be caught sittin' around in no
Junglescape, dumb as an ape doing nothin'

Superman never made any money
For saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes i despair the world will never see
Another man like him

Hey Bob, Supe had a straight job
Even though he could have smashed through any bank
In the united states, he had the strength, but he would not
Folks said his family were all dead
Their planet crumbled but Superman, he forced himself
To carry on, forget krypton, and keep going

Superman never made any money
For saving the world from solomon grundy
And sometimes i despair the world will never see
Another man like him

Tarzan was king of the jungle and lord over all the apes
But he could hardly string together four words: "I Tarzan, you Jane."

Sometimes when supe was stopping crimes
I'll bet that he was tempted to just quit and turn his back
On man, join Tarzan in the forest
But he stayed in the city, and kept on changing clothes
In dirty old phonebooths till his work was through
And nothing to do but go on home

Superman never made any money
For saving the world from solomon grundy
And sometimes i despair the world will never see
Another man like him
