Puppy Persistently Gnaws on Tail

March 15th, 2006, 03:14 PM
Hello! My 5 mo. old teacup yorkie has been nibbling persistently at her tail for the past week and I wonder if it's something I should be concerned about. Her stools are normal, nothing is "stuck," and I dont feel any bumps on her tail. The other thing to mention is that my girlfriend accidently sat on the pup about 2 weeks ago (she was holding up a leg but is fine now), and I wonder if that has anything to do with it. The vet has seen her since the "accident" but we didn't do X-Rays because she was acting normally.

Any idea what my pup's fascination with her tail is? She acts like it's bothering her somehow.

Usually knawing above the hiney is a sign of parasites... (as far as I know anyway)
