Advice on getting a Shidzu

Hello everyone,
I'm new to this site. Anyone got any advice on getting a Shidzu? (learn to spell it right first???) All my previous pets were gifts, so I'm open to advice.

Shih Tzhu's are very people lovers. Be prepared to be loved to death. Do not expect to have a watch dog. They are bred for companionship only. If you want more information Google Wenrick Kennels. They have a wonderful site and can help you with all your questions. Be prepared these little dogs need grooming and they snore like 500 pound drunken sailors. They like to sleep with you and be with you all the time. Pure love walking around with four feet and a hairy suit.:p

You can try petfinder first and call all the rescues and humane societies close to you. If they have nothing, see if they have a contact list and can contact you when one becomes available.

Shih Tzus are one of my favorite breeds. I've always found them to be very companionable, easygoing little guys.

Definately check Petfinder :) My local shelter gets them quite often.

Joey was a shih tzu mix and Cooper is a shih tzu.

This guy loves the world and fully expects the world to love him back !! I'll try to post some pictures later since my son is home and can help me do that.

Yes they do snore, they do love people and hate to be alone. Cooper will cry whenever anyone leaves the house--even if there is a houseful still there. And when we're out if anyone talks to him, or looks as thought they might, maybe, possibly, talk to him he goes into tail wagging extra cute mode.

They're small but they don't know it ! He barks when he's hungry or when he wants to play. He growls only when he's attacking my snow boots. Really funny--he attacks toys and empty water bottles but only growls at the boot.

Anyone know of any rescues in the Sultanate of Oman? I don't think petfinder has any middle eastern rescues listed.

I got a Shih-tzu mix(Shih-tzu poodle=Shihpoo!).

She's the most adorable and loving creature on earth.

yesterday morning she destroyed my assignment in the car while I was at the bank and when I got back she totally fooled me with her innocent look and licking! I was so mad, but this little thing is just too precious to be punished!

had big dogs before and couldn't be happier that we decided on a small shih-tzu cross this time. Melei is a source of constant joy and amusement. would say a shih-txu or shih-tzu x would be a good choice for many people. :thumbs up

Melei's mom--add a black mask around those eyes and you have a picture of our Cooper. He's too cute for his own good !! And what a character !

thank you...I think she is the cutest dog around...
her mama is a white shih-tzu/bichon and her papa is a black and white shih-tzu.

I am hoping she keeps her tricolor, but I have heard that some shih-tzu/bichons become all white when the adult coat grows in.

I will love her any color she is though...even if she turns purple and sprouts antenna!:D

LOL !! Well let's hope that doesn't happen but it's good to know that she would still be loved if it did !:love:

What a face!!!

Shih-Tzus are simply adorable. You can't go wrong if you want to get a dog who is affectionate and around you all the time. Ours has to touch one of us or be as close as possible. He likes to sleep on our clothes or towels that we have used because it has our smell and it comforts him I guess.

They are just little bundles of joy.
