Super Cloudy Water???

I do weekly water changes in my 10G religiously. Last week, my tank suddenly became SOOO cloudy, I couldn't believe it. I always test the water every couple of days, and my parameters were consistently within range.

I did another water change last Friday, my usual day. Didn't do anything different from my usual routine. No change in stocking, maybe feeding a bit less but not radically so. Now four days later, the water is sparkling....as clear as it has ever been.

I don't understand what would cause the water to be so cloudy like that. That's the only time it has happened since I've had the tank up and running since October.

Any thoughts?

usually a super cloudy tank like misty cloudy is a result of a bacterial bloom in
the tank, or if its green clouds then suspended algae.
There are many reasons they can occur.
With a bacterial bloom its normal and can occur occasionally.
It should dissipate on its own within a week or so.

That sounds about right. It was a white haze, and lasted roughly a week. It was still there for a few days after I changed the water, but now its gone and the tank is crystal clear.

Yep, definetly a bacterial bloom.
Who knows why? Sometimes this happens as
a result of changing filter media - which is why you
should never change it all nor at the same time you
do a water change. Sometimes it happens if you
do too big a water change or too much of a gravel
vaccuum. Sometimes its a result of an ammonia
spike due to a dead fish or snail in the tank.
Sometimes because of an ammonia spike due to dead
or decaying plant material.
The only real worry is when it doesnt clear up within 2-3 weeks
time.
Yours sounds normal and went away rapidly, so nothing
to worry about it!
