My brother -who is as many of you know, a firefighter, sent me this:

Subject: FW: The Kiss

The Kiss...

He had just saved her from a fire in her house, rescuing her by carrying her out of the house into her front yard, while he continued to fight the fire.

She is pregnant.

When he finally got done putting the fire out, he sat down to catch his breath and rest.

A photographer from the Charlotte, North Carolina newspaper, "The Observer," raised his camera, she came up to the tired man who had saved her life and the lives of her babies, and kissed him, just as the photographer snapped this photograph.

And people say animals are dumb - yeah right.

Never a doubt in my mind:love: I always knew animals were never dumb or heartless. They just are tired of dealing with the idiot people around them

Awww- so sorry to hear she died (not sure whether to send it to my bro or not but you know I will!). I still think the original story is great. My brother's station has special oxygen masks for cats and dogs - the perfect sizes. A local group raised $$$$ for them - I think that is wonderful and they have saved several animals even before they had the equipment. Of course even before he was a firefighter, my brother was the type to stop his car if he saw a sick animal or one hit by a car and rush it to the vet. In one case, he stopped for a cat (The kitty lived and was adopted by my brother and his then gf) and he tried to get police to stop and they would not. But now he is a firefighter and can save animals officially - even with the proper equiipmernt! :)
