This was one of the best dramas I saw this year and I'm sort of embarrassed to say it but it's one of the few movies that I've ever watched in French. (with English Subtitles) This film centers around 1 family and everything about this family is 'real'. The characters have real lives with real problems.

The attention to detail is AMAZING in this film. The director and crew really make you feel like you know this French Quebecer family and it's all in the details. From making grilled cheese with an iron to the traditional singing of Charles Aznavour on Christmas, to the house they live in with all its decor. The dialogue and way of speaking also help make this film great, so kudos to the writers.

The storyline depicts a family's struggle for happiness and their trials and tribulations in trying to achieve that happiness over 30 years or so. The storyline is interesting and very engaging. The characters are extremely rich with good performances throughout the film. The father in this film, Gervais Beaulieu, played by Michel Cote, is brilliantly played and worthy of the great praise he is getting.

I highly recommend this film and give it an 8.5/10.

We were going to rent that one, but we got Horloge Biologique instead. It's a good movie too about guys who get screwed in different ways because of babies... Non committal men.
