parvo virus

November 12th, 2003, 12:43 AM
I am wondering if farrets possibly carry the Parvo virus? I am wondering this because our farret (Maggie) bit both our dogs (Poppy & Sassy) then approx. 11/2 weeks later Poppy passed away in our home and Sassy had to be put down due to finances. We are currently fighting to keep a 3rd puppy alive with antibiotics and anti nausea medication from our vet. I just don't know if our pups got the virus from another dog or if maybe the farret had something to do with it. Thank you for your time
Sincerely; Della (colgrad2004)

I don't believe the strains of parvo is similar in ferrets & dogs...were your dogs vaccinated?

Probably the best person to ask this question is your vet.

I am very sorry for your losses, how awful. Will be keeping fingers crossed for your pup.

GREAT NEWS!!! Cuddles the puppy is 100% better!! She seems to have had a full and successful recovery. Up playing, eating and back to her old (young) self again. Thank God! I want to thank everyone for their prayers and replies to me and my girls concerning our puppy. Sincerely; Della :) :D
