Hello,,since last here after my friend Tellmekitty passed away I adopted a 4 yr neutered manx cat ,, Lynx. As i live in a place where we have skunk, racoons, and coyotes, I would like to be able to let Lynx out for walk on a leash, would appreciate any training tips and other info. Thank You

I adopted a 4 year old cat just this fall that is used to a leash. I never thought a cat could! However, even though you can get your cat used to a leash I doubt if they will ever walk like a dog. I've only taken my cat out in my front yard with it. I would never take him further for a few reasons: He wants to go where HE wants, not where I want to. There's always the danger of dogs walking without leashes that can attack him

YY loves her leash - she runs off when we come in before I get a chance to take it off sometimes, sigh but I think it is the chase that is the game and I am the well, pushover, lol
Put on her (his?) leash and try it around the house and gove her a treat so she associates it with good things. Have lots of patience (I was lucky - YY took to it VERY well but she was a tiny 12 week old kitten when she started her leash training). When she sits down and won't move, give her some space - then go back and try it again. Give her lots of positive inforcement. If she likes going outsiude and learns to associate that with the leash, that will also be good but start in the house first - you do not want a cat wiggling out of a leash or upset outside where probs can occur. That is better handled indoors. Here is YY with her leash on asleep on the monitor (!!) before I could get it off: (if I can find the photo, lol)

Have you considered a kitty stroller - my little girl (diva really) prefers pink as you can see, lol
