Hi there:

I have noticed in the last 2 days that my soon to be 6 month old puppy dog is having just one bowel movement in the morning and then no more for the rest of the day.

About his food, we started him on wellness then ran out and was unable to go to the store we get it so then got him science diet natural... he wasn't so into it so we mixed it with wet food and he got through it but then when he finished that we went back to wellness cause its definately a lot better for him... SO this was about a week straight now that he has been eating wellness. Is this possably why he is just having one? All the rest of the day he does his pee and goes on with his normal puppy self so I'm not too concerned but just though I would ask anyway. And yes, I will be keeping him on the same food from now on... no more changing.

Thanks:)
Jen

How many times a day do you feed him? If it's only once, it's possible you are only getting one load. If it's more than one meal a day, the loads should definitely be more frequent. Be careful of what you feed if you ever run out like that. Science diet is FULL of stool hardeners and digestive aids and Wellness has none... It's a hard switch.

He is fed approximately 2.5 times a day. He doesn't eat as much at lunch time mostly Breakfast and Dinner. We won't be switching up his food anymore, wellness is the only one we will be using mixed with his wet food which he is used to.

I've heard that the better the food, the more nutrients the dog absorbs, so the waste is less. Is this possible?

Definitely. When the dog eats all kind of fillers like corn that it cannot digest, it just comes out the other end.

When I got my dog I fed her Eukanuba and she was pooping 3 and sometimes 4 times in a 24 hour period!

For the last 3 years she get Wellness and usually only goes once a day and sometimes twice - early in the morning and very late at night.

My daisy goes twice a day and there has been quite a few times where its been three times a day. Sometimes on wet, rainy miserable days when she doesn't get a whole lot of activity, she'll only go once.
