What a nice story.

Actually these days people can easily live with AIDS for 24+ years. The virus starts as HIV and people can live extremely long with it (provided they have access to the correct medications and conduct their every day life in a healthy manner) before it develops into AIDS. Look at Magic Johnson. How long has he been living with HIV? AIDS is the last wave of the disease and most people don't actually die from AIDS, they usually die of pneumonia because their immune system is so depleted from the virus. Hopefully that helps.

Ya, that's the problem with HIV- people live a long time, thus have a long time to infect other people. There are a couple of strains now that are not as strong...

What a nice story though. Dogs are way smarter than we think they are, IMO.
