between a Lhasa-Apso and a ****z-tzu?
When I got my dog the old owner said she was a ****z-tzu but the pictures I see on the net of ****z-tzu don't really look like my dog. A few people I know have said she is a Lhasa-Apso. Not that I really care she is a great dog but I would like to know for sure. I am trying to get a decent picture of her fully body that I will post if she chooses to cooperate. But what are some main differences?

Both breeds can be quite similar and hard to tell apart when they come from uncertain genetic background. There are also many crosses between the two breeds. Even amongst the breeders' community, there has been discussions, as some lineage from both breeds go back to common ancestors...
Anyways, I found this for you:
HOW TO IDENTIFY A SHIH TZU!
General Guidelines
Size
Usually the Lhasa Apso is larger than the Shih Tzu, but there are small Lhasas Apso and large Shih Tzu.
Color and Markings
Color and markings are very similar but solid color is usually more indicative of a Lhasa Apso.
Head
The Lhasa Apso has a terrier head which is much different from the Shih Tzu. The top is flatter where a Shih Tzu should have a domed head. The ear placement is lower on the Lhasa Apso.
Eyes
The eyes have a different shape, the Shih Tzu being much rounder and should be larger and the Lhasa Apso being more almond shaped.
Nose
The nose of the Shih Tzu should be even with the lower rim of the eyes. That is the top of the nose. The Lhasa Apso has a more down nose and it is longer than the Shih Tzu but in a poorly bred Shih Tzu that could be down also.
Body Length
The Lhasa Apso is generally longer than the Shih Tzu.
You can see pics of both breeds here:
