Cat in heat?

I have just adopted my first cat recently and I am certain that she is in heat I intend on having her fixed within a week, but I was wondering if after the cat is fixed will they go into heat or show any of the signs that she shows now while she is in heat?

I've never seen a female cat (or dog) exhibit any signs of being in heat if they've been altered.
