My cat recently had surgery and is not on any pain killers and I was wondering if I could give him anything to help with the pain?

If your vet didn't give you anything, don't give your cat anything.

Painkillers that are safe for humans can be potentially fatal in cats.

Tylenol for example can be deadly to a cat and other painkillers are way too dfficult to adjust the dose because of the weight difference between cats and do nothing without calling your vet first.

Many vets don't prescribe something for pain because the pain serves a purpose after surgery - to keep the animal calm and careful about re-injuring the site.

If you think your cat is experiencing real pain, I agree completely with the other poster - call your vet before giving ANYTHING.
