Will you people give permission to use your pics??

Sorry to put this here, but wanted people to see it!

We want to raise money at the next pet fair, and thought of framing pics with cute captions. All proceeds go totally to the animals.

The quotes used on pics will all be cute/funny/touching - nothing derogatory or mean.

Badger, raingirl, Marty and Minou's mom(sorry forgot your handle) may I use your pics? We want to use all rescue animals, so people can see how great they are.:)

Here's a sample of what they will be like!

Go ahead. I've got plenty more, just say the word.
Brilliant idea, by the way. If you need help, let me know.

Lucky, thats a great idea - show off their irresitible appeal.:thumbs up

Zack and Percy are both adult rescues, you're certainly more than welcome to any pics if you wish.

Good luck with your fundraiser!

Thank you everybody!!:)

The pics have to have somewhat neutral backgrounds, like the one I posted. There can't be all kinds of personal junk in there, which disqualifies most of my own pics.:p

I only named those people above since I have pics of their pets on my computer.

I would like to use raingirl's Odin, and made up this one.:) I'll PM her.

Prin that's perfect! I just lightened it a bit!

Buddy will have to definitely be included.

Not sure how many we'll do since we don't know how well they'll sell. Will probably start with 10 or so and I'll let anyone whose pics I used know if they sold!!:)

Joey is sort of a rescue too, he did come from the ECS rescue, even though he is a rehome. You can use him if you want too.

Oh these are so cute. Will you be able to share more of them here on the boards?

(Joey was a rescue dog and I would love to give you a cute picture of him but he was petrified of the camera. Almost every picture we have is Joey slinking away. My son tricked him one time by sticking the lens through a hole in a cardboard box and feeding him a piece of chicken from the end of a cigar so that it looked as though he were smoking a cigar---but it came out too blurry. He was also scared of binoculars, LOL !! Because they get held up to your eyes he was certain that a flash would go off. )

Good luck with the fund raiser. With such beautiful babies how can it NOT be a rousing success ?

I love the idea of adding quotes... what a nice touch.

I'm sure you'll have lots of great shots to choose from - likely more than you'll need.. but here is one pic of Zack without background clutter.

Jesse in the party hat is great!!:)

I'm also planning to put a paper on the back of the pic with the pet's name and the fact that they were adopted.

I'm hoping people will buy these - after all, it's for charity!

Thanks, Prin, but I'll have to pass! We dont' want to scare people away!:p

Sorry to keep bugging everyone, but someone I spoke to today said something to the effect of "No one is going to buy pictures of other people's pets."

I thought of that, but also that adding the quotations makes them more decorative, and this IS a charity event.

Would anyone here buy a pic like the following? It will be framed, and hanging hook included. (this is my feral cat Autumn) I will also stick a paper on the back, with the animal's name and that is is now "Adopted and loved by ****".

LR if you think people may not buy pics of other peoples pets to hang on their walls ,then take your idea and turn them into blank cards so people can use them to send to friends, or ofcourse the ever so popular calenders (with captions, ofcourse), small postcards, etc. People may not want to buy a poster of someone elses pet but they may buy it if it was something they could use. Just a thought.
You can do all this on the computer (I can help). You can go to a office supply store and ask them to donate the paper and inturn you can put their company name in the back of the article...paper donated by....

badger
January 30th, 2006, 06:42 PM
I think people will buy them. Plus your target audience is right there.

I wouldn't put the name of the rescuer on the back, that does personalize it a bit too much. How about information on the circumstances of their rescue, no gory details, just something like, 'Fluffy, abandoned in a field by his owners, rescued (or adopted) January 2006. Or, 'found in a ditch in a taped-up cardboard box, rescued, etc. These aren't good examples, but you get my drift. Too depressing? Or just the name and date of rescue. Maybe the age?

I love the idea of cards. People love cards.

then take your idea and turn them into blank cards so people can use them to send to friends

Yes, that was mentioned...we're trying to keep costs down so am wondering how much cards would be to have made up....?

Calendars are out, since this will be in March and too late for 2006.:(

LR - you are more than welcome to use a pic of Brick too...he is a rescue as well (remember him??) He's a ham, so I've got TONS!!! LEt me know if you want more!!

cpietra16
January 30th, 2006, 09:52 PM
LR, depending on who you know you can get the paper donated by some office supply store and ask around printing shops to see how much would it cost for X numbers of copies and would they be able to donate some. Besides the cards you can make up Book Marks, which if you have any left over, can take them to a book store and have them sold there. Calenders are out of the question but you can also do small magnets for the fridge, etc..the printers can also put pictures on cups.
When I was fundraising, most of my work was trying to find companies to donate to the cause, either money, supplies, all in return for a small mention in the brochure as donators...

Rex, the cat, was born feral but my husband rescued her when the mom abandoned the kittens at 4 weeks old.

Just some thoughts....

I like the card idea - you may have a hard time getting them printed for a reasonable price though - maybe a color copy shop would be a better price - perhaps even free, with a small notation on the back of each card - Printed by XXXX. free adverstising for the print shop.

I just received a letter from a big rescue group looking for donations - inside was a whole sheet of address labels, some w/ a puppy pics, some w/ kittens, and included my name/address. (where they got my name/address I don't know) but they were great! some large labels, some small... obviously I sent them a donation right away.

You may want to contact a graphic designer for these as well - especially since you are using type (quotations) on an image. IMO, people would be willing to spend $ on them if they had a professional look. (please don't think I think the above photos/quotes are bad, but from a graphic standpoint, could be cleaned up - especially if intended to be framed & hung)

feel free to use any of my Tucker's pics - however, you will probably want higher quality images for printing. If so, you may want to have people email them to you instead of posting here.

Like I said, just some thoughts, I wish you all the best with your fundraising efforts!!

Lucky what about note pads or daily desk calendars where you tear off the pages. The idea of using a printer who will donate for advertising is great and we have to have a graphic artist on here who will donate a few hours. If I can do anything to help out I am just waiting on another movie so I have time and it would keep me off the streets Joking but willing to help
PS I love those Bloodhounds they are gorgeous

I actually am a graphic designer, however, I've got a fairly full work load as it is. If this project will take a few weeks, I could possibly donate some of my time/talents to help.

Another idea would be to contact any local colleges/universities that have a graphic program - utilize the students. Students who are nearing graduation could always use freelance jobs to beef up their résumés. Most (if not all) would probably be willing to do it for free in exchange for acknowledgement & experience.

ETA: some college professors may even welcome this project as a class assignment. When I was in art school we did "real life" projects quite regularly.
