We have a 5 year old cat named buddy that has stopped eating and has become quite lathargic. about two weeks ago we brought home a 8wk old kitten and he was fine untill last monday when he stopped eating and going to the bathroom. He now has a phlemmy cough sound. Could the kitten have caused this? The kitten has not been vaccinated yet. any info would be helpfull. Thank you

Your cat is in serious condition!!!!
Bring it in to the vet!!
Now is not the time to ask questions.
Just so you know
...if you stopped eating and pooping for over a week and YOU now had a phlegmmy cough sound what would you do?
you would go to the doctor.
now that you know what to do,
take your pet to the doctor.

This happened to my mother's cat McKenzie. He stopped eating but because he was so fat we were not concerned that he wasn't eating for a few days. What we didn't realize until later though was he was not using the littler box. (My male cat was using his litter box and we didn't know). Anyhow, when we finally took McKenzie to the vet, he was very very ill. He had crystallized urine which had blocked his tract and the poison had built up. It was going to cost thousands to operate and no guarantees he was going to make it so we had to put him down. He was only 2 yrs old. My advice to anybody now is if your cat isn't eating, there is an underlying reason Don't wait - take him to the vet now.
