salivary gland blockage

What causes a salivary gland blockage in a dog? My dachshund has this blockage but is getting better by taking antibiotics. Is there anything I can do to prevent this from happening again?

Honestly, I can't remember what the vet said about the blockage. I was really upset when I took Snickers to the vet. He is supposed to go back on Nov. 1 for his vaccinations. She told me what to do to take care of him but I don't recall her saying what could cause a blockage in the salivary gland.

I'm sorry I don't have any useful info - I was curious, I've never heard of this. I looked it up on a good veterinary database, but unless I was using the wrong term, I couldn't find any info.

I'd call the vet back on Monday and ask her, & post what you find out...is there a breeder you can call? Maybe it's a Dachshund specific thing, a knowlegable breeder would know.
