Hi,
This is my first time on the boards here. We are new to Ontario and the Ottawa area. I am wondering if anyone has any places that they like for pets while they are away. Of course they are my babies and I want a place where they will be comfortable and not scared. I have two dogs and they have never been to a kennel before....one is from a shelter and I'm worried that he might get quite stressed, so I want a great situation for them. Any information that you might have or suggestions would be helpful. We don't go away often, so I don't need a place on a regular basis or anything.
Thanks for any help that you might have.
Margaret:)

I only offer doggy daycare during the day, not overnight. I do however have former students that have a business in Ottawa called Bone Voyage. You can check out their website www.bonevoyage.ca

Your vet and/or groomer might be able to recommend either a boarding kennel or preferably, in my opinion, a home boarding environment. This is how I found the lady that boards my dog - she once worked for vet and groomer - and my dog loves her. My dog would definitely not do well in a kennel type of facility - he has a fear of crates as a result of treatment prior to his adoption by us. My husband's family all live in Ottawa - I will ask him to check with his sisters - they all have dogs, but I think they take care of each other's as needed. It is good to have a place that you trust though in case of an emergency. We do not have family in Toronto and you never know when something might happen requiring quick boarding of your pets. I was never able to board a dog until I found this wonderful person.

The place I had mentioned is a home based boarding. You can send your dogs to a home with or without other dogs.

I haven't had to leave Dodger yet...but if I ever do, Dodger will stay here:

It's a bit of a drive (45 minutes from Ottawa) but I have only heard good things about it!:D
