Missing cat's in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve area

Hi everyone,

I am new to this board. For the past 3 weeks I have been searching for my beloved tortoiseshell Bailey. I am so worried about her. We adopted her this summer when we moved the this area. She was abandoned by her previous owners, they had operated her and had her declawed, but left her behind when they moved away. My husband and I fell in love with from the first moment we saw her in our fire escape. She was severely undernourished and had the sign's of torture on her. We took her in, she was so use to the outdoors that she would not even use the litter box for the first 3 month of owning her, she would always ask for the door to use the powder room, but she would always be back within 15 mins at the most. Then on the last week of November we let her out as usual, but she never came back. My husband and I were heartbroken. I swear, I can still hear her meowing and I go running to the door to see if she is there, but alas she is not. She was so loving and so beautiful, we just hope that whoever found her realize what a treasure they have found.
But I am scared, I keep hearing from my neighbors that there is a psycho in our neighborhood, taking and torturing the poor cats. A lot of the area in our area have now gone missing, and we are all worried about them. I just hope I can find my baby before christmas, but by the looks of it, I will not. But I still hope for a Christmas miracle

Oh I'm so sorry. I'm praying for a Christmas miracle for you. My niece's cat went missing and they live near a heavily wooded area. They were pretty certain that a large animal had gotten to her, but a few weeks later she turned up. I hope that your kitty turns up soon.

I am really sorry about your little cat and hope for her safe return:fingerscr
But,if everyone knows you have a"psycho"in the area torturing cats,it should be reported to the police.
These kind of evil people usually keep trophys,as a case here in Toronto showed, where animalparts were found in the freezer.
Also this kind of cruelty often escalates, his next victim might be a human.
Best of luck to you and your kitty!

Have you got a picture? I live near Frontenac metro and could keep an eye out.

What you can do...

Distribute "Lost" flyers, with a recent picture, in your neighbourhood: poles, alleys, veterinary clinics, convenience stores, grocery stores, pet shops, internet sites, newspaper ads. Posters sometimes get ripped down. Check daily, and replace them.

Ask people in your neighbourhood if they have seen him. Some people don't look at posters (go figure - I always do! however faded) but if you put the flyer under their nose, it may jog their memory.

Contact the Berger Blanc (the 'pound' for this area) - go there in person every day. Fill out lost reports & leave the flyer (picture).

Go out calling for your cat early in the morning and after dark (when it's quiet out), with a box of its favourite treats. Back alleys, places where stray cats congregate, behind restaurants where food may be available. Start close to home, moving in circles further and further away. Chances are that he is close by, hiding or (this happened to me) shut up accidentally in someone's garage our shed.

I don't believe the SPCA comes to this area, but it wouldn't hurt to check. I found out recently that they don't prowl around looking for animals but wait for people to call, and even then, the animal has to be confined for their arrival.

Don't give up!

I know a rescue that works in that area specifically. Check your Private Messages. I've sent you their contact info.

Hope they lead you to your kitty.

Bailey is very pretty:love:
I just knew all the wonderful ladies in Montreal would come through for you,all of whom are kitty:angel: 's.
I found a lost kitty, who had been gone for 2 weeks, she was only a couple of houses away, where a kind lady had been feeding her.
You have recieved some excellent advice,so lets hope you find sweet Bailey:fingerscr
