Hi Everyone,
A friend just forwareded me this artical and I thought that it was important for me to pass it along. I can't believe that the theft of a dog is considered the same as the theft of some piece of electronic equipment!! So sad!

By law, dogs ARE property like any other, and if someone steals or kills your dog, all you can claim is the monetary value of the dog.
What needs to be done is that people should stop leaving their dogs outside stores, in unlocked cars while they shop, or unattended in front yards.

I totally agree with you on this however its seems so wrong to look at a dog or any pet as a piece of property. I do understand that we buy our pets and I guess thats why they would consider them property... either way though it just sounds wrong...
Thanks

I saw this on the local news last night. Very disturbing what lengths some people will go to. Another good reinforcer why a dog should not be left unattended.
Sadly, theft rates go up at the holiday season, and it looks like this includes pets too. What an utter heartbreak this would be.
There was one happy ending here not too long ago..where a little Yorkie was reunited with her owner - the sweetest little old lady, so distraught about losing her companion. After the news clip was run, the person who bought the dog off the street for $50 was moved to return the dog.
But - how often would that happen?

It is good advice for cat "owners" too who let their kitties roam!!!!!

i think that if I caught anyone trying to snatch my girls, there would be that funny yellow tape the police use up and a chalk outline on the ground.

Soooo very true LR.
Also,laws are different everywhere.
Let me just say that if you steal a dog here, you can and will be charged.
This is why I have said a number of times on here, don't even think about trying to take(steal) a dog.I know it is so hard not wanting to.But the law is the law.And you get caught, you will pay the price.
Let someone try and take my boy........:D
