Ebay is thinking of allowing Live Pets to be sold.
I have just read and signed the petition: "Please Help Stop eBay Pets
For Profit". Please sign here:

They already do allow live animals to be sold.
They allow fish, invertebrates, and other water critters
to be sold. Last I looked, these too are animals.

Well they are thinking of expanding it then, which cannot be a good thing. I should have also included this link to reply directly to EBay:

Thank you for the link, I'm an eBay seller and buyer and posted in that thread. Almost everyone in the thread is against the idea.

Update from eBay in the thread (page 64):
Clarification re: Pet Sales on eBay.com
I want to thank everyone who’s posted to this board regarding our exploration of a new service to bring sellers and buyers of pets together. It’s clear you see a strong distinction between pet adoption (e.g., the kind offered by responsible local shelters and advocated by leading animal welfare organizations) and selling pets for profit, which unfortunately can be associated with behavior that’s inhumane and/or illegal. We understand and agree with this distinction.
Based on your responses – many from animal welfare professionals -- we’re going to exclude commercial breeders and for-profit sale of pets from further consideration and instead focus the discussion on listings of available rescue animals from vetted local shelters to support responsible pet adoption.
It’s clear that we need to proceed very carefully. As our plans take shape, we’ll again ask for input from our community. In the meantime, thanks for sharing your views with us.
Yeah, together we made a difference! :D
