my chihuahua puppy is very friendly. and we take him to petsmart often and he walks around and HAS to say hello to everyone like he is running for doggy mayor. its pretty funny to watch. but what do i do when people get really friendly back and i would like to leave? i feel kinda akward and i normally say "say bye bye teecee, and thank you!" but sometimes people just keep playing with him while i am trying to pull him away. i dont want to be rude and be like "hey, leave my dog alone" haha but how can i polietly say its time to go?

I would just say, "Sorry, but I'm actually running late. Thanks for your interest in my doggy though.":)

Then after you say that, pic him up and quickly walk out the door...;)

Talk to the dog and say well we have to go do ?whatever and then say thank you and walk away. As long as you are polite others won't think you are rude.

LOL Stacey, you made me think- you could also say "Don't pet him too much, he has a bit of diarrhea today and he might lose control a little bit if he gets too excited..." That'll get the hands off!
