Do you love a squishface?

December 13th, 2005, 01:12 AM
It's late at night, the pups and I are on the computer (I'm supposed to be doing the books but this is more fun) and I just want to know if others prefer the short nosed dogs or the longer nosed dogs? Or do you care?

December 13th, 2005, 01:14 AM
I dont really like squished nosed dogs except for bulldogs and boxers. Joey has a long nose.

December 13th, 2005, 01:28 AM
I looked up Joey he's gorgeous. I love cockers but Shih Tzus suited the whole family better. Boy it took me a while to read the squishface, but now there's nothing like looking down into their sweet eyes and realizing that the tooth that's sticking out means I love you. It's really late here, so I might not be making too much sense now.

Long boxy face... I mean the pointery, labby, retrievery, "soft mouth". I have never had anything but. The only squishy I would like to have is a pug. Everyone else is the soft mouthed type...

Like Boo... (His nose is extra long..reer)

I love my squishy face boy (he's a bulldog). How can you not love this face?

December 13th, 2005, 07:43 AM
I'm loving a squishface baby right now !!! He's a shih tzu, 4 months old yesterday !

When we got our first dog I researched breeds beforehand to know what would suit our family. Shih tzu was not one of the breeds I was interested in, even though it was on that list. But we were working with a rescue organization and actually went there to look at another guy, a mixed breed, when Joey chose us.

Now Joey has left us with a little doggie sized hole in our hearts.

And here's our new guy, being all squishy.:) (I know that toothy look. I laugh every time I see it.)

Okay, technical question but how did you look up Joey's picture? I see it on his mommy's post but just a little one. Is it in the profile? Do most people have pics in their profiles? I'd love to see more picutres of people's doggies.
Boo is gorgeous---looks like my cousin's dog Bo (short for Boston) who is the sweetest boy in the world. I'll bet Boo is a darling too.

In a word, no. I am sure many find them adorable and I do like amost every dog but wonder why ppl bred or continued the trend of a squished face. It reminds me of those poor Persians with the squsihed faces who have diffoculty eating - and I get angry at their breeders, to deleiberately breed a problem like that, sigh!! I do know it's different with squsihed faced dogs though I would use a different word since squsihed might indicate a health issue.

I much prefer the open faced dog with a full face like a lab or poodle or beagle.

Squishface is a term of enderment. I was not born a squishface fan but grew into it because of my babies temperment.
Shih Tzu's ,"cersanthimum", "temple Dogs", etc. dogs are an ancient breed.
joeysmama just copy the address and it will take you to Joey.

December 13th, 2005, 11:10 AM
joeysmama what's the new babies name? Do you have a pic.

December 13th, 2005, 07:08 PM
There is a dog for everyone squishy face or long nosed, big. medium or small. :D

December 13th, 2005, 09:00 PM
I don't like squishfacedness. I like a dog with a "real" snout. :)

December 13th, 2005, 09:06 PM
Long nose.... I looove Borzois.

December 13th, 2005, 09:14 PM
Hey, I think the squishfaces are losing. I love all the dogs (almost) but once you get the knack of a squishface you can't help yourself.

December 13th, 2005, 09:16 PM
That was Buster I'm going to try Lacey this time.

December 13th, 2005, 10:23 PM

December 13th, 2005, 10:28 PM
Yeah. these squishfaces need all the help we can get

December 13th, 2005, 10:30 PM
love, love ,love, the tounge.

December 13th, 2005, 11:12 PM
Here's a squishyface for you:

December 13th, 2005, 11:24 PM

Now Joey has left us with a little doggie sized hole in our hearts.

Joey did that, I'm sorry he says he's sorry too.

Actually one time Joey got his big nose stuck on the cubboard door when he was peeking in and I went to shut it, so long faces has its disadvantages too.

December 14th, 2005, 12:12 AM
Love it a beautful yellow flower!

December 14th, 2005, 01:30 AM
Aren't squishy faced doggies who are bred properly a lot less likely to have the breathing issues associated with it? All I know is there are some out there who are living long, trouble-free lives... My cousin's pug is going on 11 at least and he's in great shape. Of course breeding for extremes is bad, but that doesn't only apply to squishy vs nosey... I can imagine that longer thinner noses also have their issues too.

December 14th, 2005, 07:49 AM
I 100% prefer full snouts. I find squished faces a little.. .well.. gross if you will...:yuck: Some can be cute yes, but in general, I find the skin folds displeasing... sort of the way you look at yourself in the mirror and find the skin folds displeasing (kidding of course, none of us have skin folds here:D )

December 14th, 2005, 10:16 AM
Yah that breeding thing.
I saw a section on "Vicki" a pet of the week thing, she had a Pug breeder talking about her pups, how expensive they were $1500 and up.
Then she(the breeder) said it was so much money because they had HAD to have C sections. That was the only way pugs could have a litter!!
All I could think was that is bad breeding to start with.
Lady down the road used to breed the most beautiful CKC Pugs and never, ever had even one C section. Emergancy C sections are one thing but to breed knowing that they are going to have one is wrong.

I still love the squishfaces!!!

December 14th, 2005, 11:10 AM
I like a squishy face, but I love a snout. Roxy would be hacked:mad: if she heard me say I like a squishy face better.

I  my snouty baby!

December 14th, 2005, 11:27 AM

December 14th, 2005, 11:41 AM
When my kids get home with their digital cameras I'll post a picture of Cooper, our squishface baby. I'm trying to remember if his face was squishy when he came home or if I squished it myself with all the lovin'

December 14th, 2005, 12:15 PM
I prefer the soft face, not squishy or pointy. Just like this one :):thumbs up

December 14th, 2005, 12:52 PM
How about the ones that have the lips they could fly with.

December 14th, 2005, 01:06 PM
I do have a softspot for the bulldogs, the pugs, and such, with their squishy faces... Tucker started off quite squishy, but now it's just a cute wrinkled basenji brow....

December 14th, 2005, 01:32 PM
Oh I have some pics of wrinkles

December 14th, 2005, 01:33 PM
Montana is the very wrinkled one.

December 14th, 2005, 08:51 PM
Hi all, newbie here.I love long noses.(I have goldens) like goldens, irish setter, cocker spaniel (who,I think are golden in a smaller size) It,s easier to kiss!

December 14th, 2005, 08:55 PM
The wrinkled ones at the top of page two are danes, 4 wks.

December 14th, 2005, 09:27 PM
As long as they're kissable...I like them. Squished, long, short any kissable puppy.:)

December 14th, 2005, 10:04 PM
Aww. great pics! I love em all... long, squishy... semi-squishy.:)
It's always struck me how squishy dogs have amazingly "expressive" faces. I'm particularly fond of ShihTsu's.. am always stoppping to admire them.

As for cats, I have two Persians... but they are not the squishy-faced that many people associate with this breed. There faces are flat, but they do have noses, and no health problems associated with eating or breathing. (not all extreme-faced Persians have this either, but some do.)

One has runny eyes that must be cleaned and wiped once or twice a day, though, one snores, and they both require a whole lot of upkeep.
I would have to say that, now, my preference is for a longer nosed cat or dog.

Here's the "squishiest" of my pet family, Basil.

December 14th, 2005, 10:08 PM
I'm a fan of these:
