Tearing up dog's bed

Both our pups have metal crates with beds of foam & cedar filling. We seldom lock them into their crates, but they both like to go in and out of them freely to sleep. For MooShu it is her 'safe place.'

Rommel lately has been pulling Moo's bed out of her crate, and because it's large and heavy, it has multiple rips and now is 'shedding' filling on the floor.

I'm at a loss for how to deal with this, since it happens while we are away from home. I don't want to crate them because it's otherwise unnecessary.

What I have been doing, when I think of it, is close the door to MooSHu's crate, because she is more than happy to use Rommel's when hers accidentally gets closed. Somtimes I forget, and I'm afraid anyway that he will just start to do the same with his own and we'll need to replace 2 beds.

As a puppy he used to pull his puppy bed out and do the same thing but he kind of just grew out of it.

Any suggestions?

Well that's not real helpful Prin. I was looking more for one of those magic solutions, like feed your dog a capful of apple cider vinegar in his food every morning and he'll stop being a jerk! Don't you have any suggestions like that? LOL Guess the jerk is destined to be a jerk and that's why we love him anyway.

LOL LOL You could just let them both sleep on your bed all day and night and throw their beds out completely...:D

Recipe for Stopping bed tearing:
Whisk together in this order:
3 eggs
1/2 cup white sugar
1 1/2 c milk
1tsp melted butter or marg.
1 cup flour
Leave for two hours.
Heat up frying pan, add a bit of butter to pan and let it melt.
Transfer a bit of mix with a ladel and spread it around evenly.
After 3 mins, flip.
Et voila! No more bed ripping (and you get killer crepes too!:D )

I will be trying that recipe tonight Prin! Shannon, does he tear them up at the seams or zippers? Simon did this for awhile after they came home from the shelter, and I basically pulled the zippers and sewed in buttons with turnunders so he couldn't nibble on the buttons and swallow them (he used to de-eye his toys at first too). Also, are they new? There might be a smell to them or a lump in the stuffing that he's not happy with? Peaches is the Princess and the Pea - hence why she forms raiding parties to sleep in my bed at night (2 55lb dogs and me in an antique double bed - not fun)

I don't leave the crepe mix for 2 hours though... We just whisk it really well and do it. Who has 2 hours to wait for crepes?:rolleyes: (oh and you can leave out the sugar too if you have less of a sweet tooth. They come out fine without it.)

Are the beds cedar? Maybe he smells something you don't...
