Cat behaviour

Our female cat came back in after about an hour outside. She was listless and looked tired and sick. She was ok to pet but did not want anyone to pick her up. She slept thru the night on the couch and as far as we know did not eat or use her litter box. She was making sounds with her mouth, sort of a thirsty sound, but did not want any water.

This is very unusual for her as she is a very active and perky cat. The only thing we can think of is that there is another female cat in the area which fights with her and our cat was somehow scared etc. She was hiding on the porch before we let her in. There are no visible injuries and she moves around ok. She just looks very sleepy.

Any thoughts?

There are many possibilities here. Some serious some less serious. What comes to mind first is some kind of trauma, like someone scared her. That said there are a lot more serious conditions that start off with the symptoms you described.

If after 24 hours she is acting the same way, then you are at the next level and need to take your cat in to see a vet.
