I am trying to find out all the different routes that can be used to find my site and where I rank. I can only find a couple probably because I can't think of what search engines to use besides webferret and google. I also seem to be lacking in the words to use and think I may be limiting myself.
Could you please help.

I puplished one website, and I did notice it took about three weeks to make it to 3rd on most search engines. Make sure you submit your url to the search engine. If you haven't submitted here is the link for google http://www.google.ca/addurl/?hl=en&continue=/addurl
Others to try
Submit site at this link
submit site at this link
Hope that helps a bit.

they all search by different criteria, some tips: titles, keywords, description, content, image tags, frames vs no frames, meta tags, etc... you can also pay for a sponsored link.

That is a very good webpage. And you are just down the road from my gf's place. I have had trouble finding a trainer around here, but I am in Ottawa most weekends. Possibly in the new year, Sprint and I may be new students.
