Fundraising doesn't have to be cash (as nice as cash is:) It can also
be items used to be auctioned or raffled (as at the Bully Ball) or
used to off-set DLCC expenses in some way.
So now the DLCC has its own Air Miles card to collect points toward
member rewards that we can turn around and auction/raffle etc. This
could be anything from DVDs to gift certificates (Shell gas, Roots
clothing etc) or fresh-water pearl bling-bling, watches, cameras, even
a dreaded Jenny Craig digital scale. Lots of stuff to choose from at
various reward point levels, including air faires, car rentals and
hotel vouchers.
The card is a Business account card in the name of the Dog Legislation
Council of Canada. The same thing is done by a variety of groups,
including the Kinsmen. Individually, it can take quite a while to
accumulate points, but if we do this as a group, we could just make
something fine happen. And you don't have to worry about anyone
tracking your purchases, collecting information etc., the account
number is attached strictly to the DLCC. A quarterly report will be
sent to DLCC treasurer, Cathy Prothro.
The card # is 8401 095 9720. You don't need an actual card to collect
the points. Just tell the check-out teller the number of the card and
they will enter it manually. We should be getting six actual physical
cards in a few weeks, so if you are able to collect lots of Air Miles
and would like one, let me know and I will forward one. Otherwise,
just keep the number in your wallet and use it at the check-out. I
tried it today at my local FS (farm supply) Store that sponsors Air
Miles, and it was no problem. If you already collect Air Miles points
for yourself, try collecting every other time for the DLCC.
Places you can accumulate points include A&P food stores in Ontario,
Sobey's, Holiday Inn, Purolator, Shell gas and heating oil, Rona, The
Show Company, Pharma Plus, Century 21 and Ryan's Pet Food. Oh yes, in
Ontario you can accumulate points at the LCBO -- just in time for the
Holiday Season! You can check the whole thing out at www.airmiles.ca I
know it works because after collecting points for a dog's age, I was
actually able to "reward" myself with a five-CD player a few years
ago. And, no, I don't have stock in the company.
Unfortunately, you can't transfer exisiting reward points you might
have to the DLCC account. However, you can convert points you have
accumulated with the Bay, Zellers or Home Outfitters to the DLCC Air
Miles account.
DLCC executive have the PIN number, so they can track points earned at
any time. DLCC executive are entirely in charge of determining what to
do with the reward points.
Let's give this a try. Heck between gasoline, shoes, dog food, people
food, drugs and alcohol - we should be able to cover all the bases and
collect a Bryant-load of points.
